Gingerly : cautioiusly, warily
Etymology : in the year 1519 the word "gingerly" meant "elgantly and daintily" from O.FR.gensor of comp. gent. It was then modified to"dainty and delicate" by L. Genitius.
On 1607, it meant "extremly cautious" the definition that we are using till this day.
Over the jagged stone footwork, the elderly people walked gingerly, taking care that they do not fall.
